The son of William Reuben & Mary Ann (Cunningham) Pickens of Anderson Co SC, late of Pike Co AR, Joseph married:

1) Lucy Walraven in 1835 in Anderson Co SC; she died in 1871 in Magazine, Yell Co AR.
2) Sarah "Sallie" Ann Crabtree on 1 Oct 1878 in Chickalah, Yell Co AR, the daughter of Solomon & Elizabeth "Eliza" Ann (Brown) Crabtree.

Children with Lucy:
1) William S Pickens (1838-1900), m: Nancy A Roulett.
2) Samuel H Pickens (b: 1840)
3) Robert Andrew Pickens (1847-1925), m: Mary E Wilson.
4) Sarah Pickens (b: 1850)

In 1840 Joseph moved his family to Mississippi, but by 1880 they were living in Yell Co AR. There is where Joseph, a farmer, lived the remainder of his years.
