Michael Miller McAleer, 68, of Luray and Vero Beach, Fla., passed away at Page Memorial Hospital, Luray, Va., on Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
He was born on December 31, 1940, in Staunton, Va., and was the son of the late Michael Edward and Virginia McAleer, who resided in Luray, Va. Michael held many positions at Blue Bell (Vanity Fair Corporation) and retired after 34 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Katie Shaffer McAleer of Luray, Va., and Vero Beach, Fla.; his brother, Kim Edward McAleer and wife Glynda Crawford McAleer of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and his sister, Karen Virginia McAleer of Glen Allen, Va. He is also survived by the following nieces and nephews: Robin Sutton and her husband Jamie Sutton and great niece Zoe, Matthew Shaffer, Dr. Mary Margaret Kim and her husband Dr. Joey Kim, Katherine Klus and her husband Matthew Klus, Leah Grisdale, 1LT Aaron Grisdale and 2LT David Grisdale.A memorial service was held Saturday, July 11, 2009, at Christ Episcopal Church in Luray, Va.
