David Franklin McClendon married Mary Elizabeth Dickey on 10 October 1858 at Lawrence County, Tennessee.

54th Regiment, Tennessee Infantry

Captured at Fort Donelson and held in a Union Prison for two years experiencing horrible treatment.

Dr.McClendon came to Texas from Tennessee in 1870. He donated the land for the Mountain Home cemetery. Dr. McClendon and his family lived in a log cabin near the cemetery. The log cabin was still standing until 1985.

died at his home on the Duff Prairie.

T.M. Bunger, credible citizen was acquainted with D.F. McClendon and his wife Mary McClendon. Said parties were married once to each other. D.F. McClendon died intestate and his wife died intestate. Surviving are:
