Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 10, at 11:00 in the Chapel at Hartman- Hughes Funeral Home for Mr. Jimmie Hoyt Boyd, 74, of Columbia, who died Monday, February 8 at his residence. Interment was in the Boyd Family Cemetery. Visitation was held Tuesday, February 9, from 5 p.m. til 9 p.m. at Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home.
Jimmie Hoyt Boyd was born May 13, 1935 in Walthall county. He was the son of Hoyt and Jessie Merle Boyd. He was long time resident of Tylertown, where he was a business owner and a law enforcement officer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hoyt and Jessie Merle Boyd; son, Gary Boyd; two sisters, Betty Smith and Lynda Goings.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Boyd, of Columbia; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Bruce Dykes, of Ponchatoula; one son, Steve Boyd, of Columbia; one son and daughter-in-law Dale and Mary Magee, of West Monroe; one sister, Bonnie Kirkpatrick, of Tylertown; seven grandchildren, Kevin Dykes, Karen Dykes, Brady Boyd, Victoria Boyd, Jonathon Boyd, Christopher Magee and Jonathan Magee; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas Dykes and Jacob Dykes.
Hartman-Hughes Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
