Decatur Daily Apr 19, 1940-Mrs. Sue J. Echols, beloved Decatur resident died at 8:30 Saturday morning at her home, 415 Grant Street, after a long illness. She was 82 years of age.
Funeral rites will be conducted at 3:30 Sunday afternoon at the residence by Dr. Edwin Wyle, pastor of First Christian church. Burial in City Cemetery will be directed by Brown.
Mrs. Echols is survived by her husband, J.L. Echols; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Elliott, Mrs Kate Crawford; a son, Dyke Echols, Decatur, two grandchildren, Miss Jane Crawford and Paul Crawford, Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Rufus Warren, W.A. Burt, Carlisie Blackwell, Elmer Rushing, William Moseley, Jr., Julian Harris, Harry Wyatt and Garner Pride.
Mrs. Echols who was a member of the Christian church, was born and reared in Morgan county. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bean, pioneer residents of this county, and among its most prominent citizens.
She was one of the city's most highly esteemed and beloved women.
