A brief note from his daughter, Mrs. Dee Sherrill Trotter, in Chicago, brings the information of the death of her father, Rev. J. E. Sherrill, at Long Beach, Cal. Notice of his funeral will appear in the Indianapolis papers, June 12. Mr. Sherrill will be kindly remembered in Danville where he lived for many years. He was engaged in the publishing business and issued an educational journal and educational books. Then he became an active minister in the Baptist church and had several pastorates. The body of Rev. J. E. Sherrill recently of Long Beach, California, arrived in Clayton early Thursday morning. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church at two o'clock Thursday afternoon. Burial was at Danville. The program of the service here included an address by J. D. Hogate, Danville, on "J. E. Sherrill, the Citizen;" and the Rev. Reuben E. Masten of Coatesville spoke on him as a spiritual leader. The funeral discourse was delivered by D. S. G. Huntington, of Indianapolis.
