Allen E. Atherton of Durand age 75 Died Saturday, November 28, 2009 at his residence. Allen was born in Gaines, MI on January 7, 1934 the son of Floyd J. and Mable R. (Bronson) Atherton. He married Cecelia A. Webster in Gaines on August 26, 1961. He lived in the Durand area since 1978 coming from Gaines. Allen was a graduate of Gaines High School, Class of 1952. He served in the U.S. Army. Allen farmed for many years before going to work for Lloyd Miller & Sons of Corunna as a truck driver. Surviving are his Wife- Cecelia Children- Robin Bunker of Corunna, Debbie and husband Tracy Hall of Owosso, Allen Jr. and wife Jennifer Atherton of Gaines, Rosemary Acker and special friend Dennis Sherman of Gaines Grandchildren- Brandon (Jessica) Craven, Aaron Aguilar, Erica Bigelow, Kaelie and Tracy Allen Hall, Brian Stiles II, Alayna Bunker, Jamie and Misty Atherton 4 great grandchildren. Foreign exchange students that were special to Allen- Laura and Lulu Sisters- Eleanor Skinner and Doris (Fred) Judson Brothers- Ralph Atherton, Dale (Kay) Atherton, and Gary (Linda) Atherton. Special caring sister-in-law- Amelia Drake. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Frank and Floyd, 3 sisters, Mabel, Thelma, and Evelyn, and son-in-law Alden Acker.
