Clifford T. Tong

Clifford T. Tong, age 90, of Findlay, OH, died at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Birchaven, Findlay. He was born on March 8, 1919 to the late Garfield and Anna Elizabeth (Mitchell) Tong in Wyandot County, OH. He married Madonna M. Wiggins on June 14, 1942 in Findlay and she preceded him in death on October 18, 2001.
He is also survived by three sons: William Lee (Linda) Tong of rural Alvada, Alan T. (Jane) Tong of Ft. Myers, FL, and Daniel Dean (Sue) Tong of Mason, OH; a daughter: Carole (Richard) Young of Houston, TX; a brother Donald Tong of Upper Sandusky, OH; two sisters: Joan Hardee of Upper Sandusky, OH and Janice Phillips of Findlay; by 11 grandchildren: LeeAnn (Denny) Swick of Westerville, OH, Brock (Amy) Tong of Madison Township, OH, Brooke (Jamie) Pratt of rural Arcadia, Derek (Dana) Tong of Ft. Myers, FL, Benjamin Tong of Minneapolis, MN, Julie Tong of Bloomington, MN, Robin and Ryan Young of Houston, TX, Joshua Tong of Baltimore, MD, Zachary Tong of Troy, NY, and Noah Tong of Mason, OH; and by 11 great-grandchildren. Cliff was preceded in death by four brothers: Gerald Tong, William R. Tong of rural Arcadia, Dean Tong of Missouri, and Robert Tong of Fostoria, OH; and by a sister: Oread Phillips of Apollo Beach, FL.
Cliff made his living as a farmer and was a member of the Hancock County Farm Bureau. He was also a Trustee of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Findlay, for 15 years, was a 9 year director of the Hancock Wood Electric Co-op, and was a former member of the Marion Township Zoning Commission, having served 3 terms.
Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at St. Paul United Methodist Church, Findlay. Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, February 19, 2010 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Pastor Gary M. Carlson will officiate and burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia. Memorials can be made in his memory to the Blanchard Valley Health Foundation or to St. Paul United Methodist Church.
