Captain Cameron was the pilot of an AD-3 Skyraider dive bomber with Marine Attack Squadron 212, Marine Air Group 12, 1st Marine Air Wing. On August 5, 1952, while on a combat mission over North Korea, his aircraft was struck by automatic weapons fire anti-aircraft fire and lost contact with others. He was presumed dead on December 18, 1953. His name is inscribed on the Courts of the Missing at the Honolulu Memorial. Captain Cameron was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
