James E Mulkey passed away peacefully on March 3, 2006.
Viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm tonight, March 7, 2006 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, March 8, 2006 at the Church of Christ, Meridian. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home. He was born to James E and Laura Mulkey on March 11, 1928 in Iowa Park, Texas. He married Carleta Randolph on November 5, 1949 in Long Beach, California. Prior to their marriage, he served in the Army Air Force from 1946 to 1949 and served an additional nine years in the Army Reserves. They moved to Idaho in 1952 where he took a job in the refrigeration business, then moved on to the lumber industry for 38 years until he retired in 1990.
James was a faithful follower of our Lord and modeled his faith daily to his family and friends. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon and teacher for many years. He has worshipped at the Linder Road Church of Christ for the last 13 years. He always had a pocketful of lifesaver candy to give out to the children, who fondly referred to him as the "candy man".
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, attending church camps and taking motorcycle trips. He especially enjoyed spending time playing games with his family and friends.
He is survived by Carleta, his wife of 56 years; three daughters, Linda (Frank) Hickl of Lake Jackson, Texas; Karin (Mike) Buckendorf of Meridian, Idaho; Pam (Cameron) Montgomery of Boise, Idaho; two grandsons; five granddaughters, and one great grandson; his brother Doug Mulkey; other extended family, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Linder Road Church of Christ, Meridian, Idaho or The American Heart Association.
