Hugh McKell
ST. HELENA—Hugh McKell 81, died Saturday in San Francisco following a heart ailment.
In 1891 he served one year during the Spanish-American War.
About 60 years ago Mr. McKell left his native state of Mississippi. He lived in St. Helena one year, 1911, and then moved to Middletown, where he resided 31 years. Later he returned to St. Helena.
Mr. McKell had been a pipe, fitter by occupation.
Survivors include his widow, Ula R. McKell, St. Helena; children, Hugh D. McKell, Santa Rosa; Howard McKell, Richmond; Mrs. Wynona E. Josephs, Richmond; Mrs. Eulalia V. McEvoy, Richmond; Mrs. Gertrude Wightman, Tracy; Mrs. Ruth Myers, King City; Edwin Tyler, Crows Landing; Allen Tyler, Patterson; Wilber Tyler, Pacific Grove; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Chapel, St. Helena, by Elders O.W. Shaw and A.C. Lien.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Metz, Lawrence Spooner, Ernest R. Temple, Benjamin Ryder, Eugene Parriott and Kenneth Weber.
Burial will be in St. Helena Public Cemetery.

Funeral Services Held for Hugh McKell
Hugh Mckell, 81, whose home was on Charter Oak avenue, passed away last Saturday at Fort Miley Hospital in San Francisco following a heart ailment.
Funeral services were held at the Morrison Funeral Chapel Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock, with Elders O.W. Shaw and A.C. Lien officiating. Burial was in the St. Helena Public Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Eugene Metz, Lawrence Spooner, Ernest R. Temple, Benjamin Ryder, Eugene Parriott and Kenneth Weber.
Mr. McKell was born November 27, 1879, in Starkville, Miss. He served one year in the Spanish-American war, and was a member of the Spanish-American War Veterans. Sixty years ago he left Mississippi, and in 1911 spent a year in St. Helena. He later, lived in Hayward, and in 1926 moved to Middletown, Lake County, where he resided until 1957 when he returned to St. Helena to make his home. By occupation he was a tailor and pipe fitter.
He is survived by his widow, Ula R. McKell, of St. Helena, and the following children: Hugh D. McKell, Santa Rosa; Howard McKell, Richmond; Mrs. Wynona E. Josephs, Richmond; Mrs. Eulalia V.
