Born April 4, 1919, in Little Falls, MN, Bernice was a daughter of the late William and Amanda Nelson Dutcher.
On November 27, 1946 she was united in marriage to Clarence Salzwedel in Chicago, IL. Clarence preceded her in death on May 12, 1981.
While living in Chicago, Bernice worked making Bingo Cards and also in various Dime stores.
Bernice and Clarence enjoyed watching the Indy 500 and made many many trips to watch the race in person. The were also loyal Cubs and Packer fans.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Tammy (Scott) Smith, Sheboygan, Raymond (Becky) Salzwedel, Jr., Sheboygan, Jeff Salzwedel, Sheboygan, Tina (Brian) Harney, Plymouth; many grandchildren; one brother, Edward Dutcher, Cottage Grove, MN; one sister, Amelia (Robert) Dieger, St. Joseph, MN; her daughter-in-law, Wanda Salzwedel, Plymouth; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her step-son, Raymond Salzwedel, Sr.; two brothers, Robert and Donald and one stillborn sister.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon, Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at Lippert-Olson Funeral Home, 1132 Superior Ave. The Rev. Lorrie Steward will officiate. Relatives and friends are welcome at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Rocky Knoll Health Care Center for the loving care they gave Bernice.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
