Obit - James Caldwell, one of the wealthiest and most influential citizens of Mt. Pleasant township, died early Saturday morning at Hickory, of the infirmities of old age. About three years ago Mr. Caldwell moved from his farm near this place into the town of Hickory. He had been in failing health for some time, and his death was not unexpected. He was aged 70 years and is survived by two sons, Frank and Robert, who reside upon the farm, and a daughter, Miss Bertha, who lives at the home in Hickory. Mr. Caldwell was one of the most prominent residents of that community, active in all church matters, and having been an elder of the United Presbyterian church at Hickory for 40 years and superintendent of the Sabbath school for the last 25 years. He was also interested in all the enterprises of that village, and was a director of the Farmers National bank of Hickory. The funeral services were held from the house in Hickory at two o'clock Monday afternoon, conducted by: Rev. McConnell, assisted by Rev. Conner, of Venice, and Rev. Gibson, of Midway.
