David G. Gulden, 68, of New Ulm died Sunday, February 14, 2010 as a result of a fire at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Saturday, February 20, 2010 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Monsignor Douglas Grams will celebrate the Mass.
Visitation will be 4 - 8 PM Friday and 7:30 - 10 AM Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. There will be a parish prayer service at 7 PM Friday at the funeral home.
David is survived by his daughter, Catherine Gulden Grimshaw of South St. Paul; son, Kevin Gulden of Minneapolis, son and daughter-in-law, Eric and Libby Gulden of Red Wing; grandchildren, Thomas, Clare, Max and Piper; a sister, Colleen Zins of New Ulm; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Sharon Gulden of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
David George Gulden was born September 20, 1941 in New Ulm to Hubert and Frieda (Kalz) Gulden. He attended New Ulm Schools and was a 1959 graduate of New Ulm Public High School. David was employed by New Ulm Public Utilities, New Ulm Police Department and then the New Ulm Public Library until his retirement in 2004. He was especially proud of his service to the NUPD. David was united in marriage to Marlene Schmidt on June 20, 1998 in New Ulm. He enjoyed gardening, cooking, collecting old cars, horses, yard work and building bird houses. David was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church and Turner Hall.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to Brown County Humane Society and Brown County Area United Way.
