Funeral services for James T. Petty, 87, of Palestine, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bailey & Foster Chapel with the Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster.
Mr. Petty passed away Saturday in Palestine.
He was born March 21, 1922 in Hood County, to Edgar and Ella McCuan Petty. He was a retired funeral director from Hassell & Foster and now Bailey & Foster Funeral Home where he was employed for 50 years.
Mr. Petty served in the Air Force during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3907 and the Kiwanis Club. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Mary Katherine Yarbrough and Bruna Fay Cole; and one brother, D.O. Petty.
Mr. Petty is survived by his wife, Bonnie Newman Petty of Palestine; and a daughter, Leanne Petty of Palestine.
Pallbearers will be Benny Toole, Martin Lawrence, Steve Jenkins, H.C. Langston, Bob Riley and Jerry Toole. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry E. Clark and Ross Bryant.
Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster.
