Faye Cross, age 89 of Centerville, Iowa died on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, Iowa. She was born the daughter of William and Jennie(Sylser)Phelps on February 12, 1921 in Centerville, Iowa. Faye attended the Appanoose County School near Centerville.
On March 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Henry"Orvie"Cross in Plano, Iowa. Faye was a member of the Plano Christian Church, the Plano Wednesday Club, and also Sara's Circle. She enjoyed quilting, attending church and helping her husband on their farm.
Faye is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Henry Cross on May 22, 1994; brother, William Phelps, Jr.; and sister, Delores Scott.
She is survived by: step daughters, Ulon Carlson of Glenwood, Iowa, and Evon Kinzler of Unionville, Missouri; sisters, Mary Dixon of Mountain Home, Arkansas, Ruth Miller of Ankey, Iowa, Edna Garr of Newton, Iowa, and Sarah Jane Exline of Cincinnati, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at 10am with the Rev. David Welch officiating at the Plano Christian Church in Plano, Iowa. Burial will follow at the Philadelphia Cemetery north of Plano, Iowa.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 1pm till 8pm at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville with the family present from 6pm till 8pm. Memorials can be made to either the Quilting Club or Plano Christian Church an can be left at the funeral home.
