A U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he flew P40, P47 Thunderbolt, P51 Mustang and T6 Mosquito aircraft. Among his awards were the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, American CPN Medal, ETO Medal, World War II VIC Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, National Defense Medal and Korean Service Medal. He joined the Air Force Reserve JAG office at McGuire Air Force Base where he was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal and retired as a lieutenant colonel.
