CALLIS, Andrew J. - Funeral services for Andrew J. Callis of the Hightop
community were held at the Barron cemetery near Vaughn last Thursday afternoon
following his death at 3:15 o'clock that morning. He died at the home of his
sister, Mrs. Luther Fletcher. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Roy
Daugherty of Hiwasse. Mr. Callis was born on the B.F. Callis homestead, seven
miles west of Bentonville, Feb. 21, 1872. He was 57 years of age. Here he grew
to manhood and in 1909 went to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho where he remained until
about two years ago. He had been a sufferer from Asthma and other troubles for
the past 25 years. Surviving him are four brothers: Robert and Grover Callis of
Maysville; John H. of Siloam Springs; and Mat Callis of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho;
also two sisters, Mrs. Luther Fletcher and Mrs. J.J. Byers of the Hightop
