George "Wash" DeLong was one of the first Tom Green County Commissioners, Dug the ditch in Christoval for Ranches to get water to their crops, School Trustee, Christoval Texas is also called DeLong, Texas at one Time. Second settler in Tom Green County coming there in 1865. Indian Fighter. Fought at the Battle of Dove Creek, Sold crops to Fort Concho and had a Brand in the Court House.
G.W. was recognized by the San Angelo Gene. and Hist. Society as a Pioneer resident of Tom Green County.
He is the Son Of James and ELizabeth (Ward)DELong and kin to the Browns, Auxier and Ward Families of Kentucky (Big Sandy Valley.
