He was born Oct. 5, 1934, in Winchester, KY., a son of the late Mary Bess Russell Humble. He was a welder at the former Detroit Steel Corp., was formerly an instructor at Shawnee State University, was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea, was a member of Mabert Road Baptist Church and loved golfing and bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Howard Humble; two sons, David Humble of Columbus, and Bill Broughton of Beaumont, Texas.; two daughters, Barbara Humble and Beverly Smiley, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tom Humble.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at D.W. Swick Funeral Home in New Boston with the Rev. Jack Williams officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Burial Park with military rites by Minford Post 622, American Legion. Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and noon to 1 p.m. Monday at D.W.
