L. Allred Dies At Port Gibson
Lucien Allred, one of the most prominent citizens of the 5th district was found dead in his truck at the (can't make out next sentence).....bridge in the southeastern (can't make out next words)....the county yesterday morning.
The body was slumped over the steering wheel, and there had been indications that he had just returned from getting water out of the stream before death overtook him.
Mr. Allred had been in Port Gibson during the early part of the morning, transacting business.
Jud Dugan, mail carrier, and Chas. Jordan and Will Lord, who were in the car with him, saw Mr. Allred sitting in his truck and asked him if he had car trouble. Getting no response they went to the truck and found that he was dead.
They went to the home of J. Mack Jones nearby and telephoned the sheriff's office and then went to notify Mrs. Allred and his brother, Wirt Allred who lives in McBride.
The deceased was one of the county's best known citizens. He has served as a member of the board of supervisors, and had long figured prominently in the affairs of his district.
He leaves his wife and three children. The eldest son, Walter is engaged in the oil fields of Arkansas, an only daughter, Mrs. White, resides in Vicksburg, and the younger son, Wirt, lived with the family. Mr. Allred also leaves one brother, W. W. Allred, and two sisters, Mrs. Todd of McBride and Mrs. H. W. Clark of Beech Grove. Port Gibson Reveille.
