Earl Frank Sutherlin

At his request, no service was held for Earl Frank Sutherlin, who died Jan. 7, 1999, at age 97.

Mr. Sutherlin was born Feb. 17, 1901, in Crowley, La. He moved to Los Angeles in 1920 and worked for the Street Car Co. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1923 and served on the USS California. In 1929, he moved to White Salmon, Wash., where he married Olive Bobbitt; she died in 1951. He worked as an automobile mechanic and in the shipping department at the Olive Corp., retiring in 1966. In 1952, he married Irene Young; they later divorced. He married Elizabeth in the 1970s; she died in 1993. He moved to Forest Grove in 1994.

Survivors include his son, Robert L. of American Canyon, Calif.; brother, Calvin of Spanaway, Wash.; and sister, Essie B. Vance of Sacramento, Calif. A son, Walter, died in 1963.

Disposition was by cremation, with interment in Forest View Cemetery. Arrangements were by Forest Grove Memorial Chapel.
