Arvetta Rusmisel Landes, 103, of Bridgewater, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Bridgewater Home,
She was born in Mount Solon on July 17, 1908, and was a daughter of the late David V. and Regina (Miller) Rusmisel.
Arvetta graduated from Centerville High School, and earned her B.S. degree from Madison College (now JMU). She taught school in Augusta County, the City of Harrisonburg, and Fairfax County school system, and retired in 1970, and is a member of the Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association.
Mrs. Landes is a member of the First Church of the Brethren in Harrisonburg.
She was united in marriage on July 9, 1960 to Kermit K. Landes, who preceded her in death on February 12, 1980.
She is survived by two nieces, Jacqueline Towers and husband Clayton of Bridgewater, Dorothy Rider of Salisbury, MD and a nephew, Donald Crickenberger of Staunton, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by nine sisters and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Lantz Chapel of the Bridgewater Retirement Community with The Rev. Dr. Ronald Wyrick officiating. Burial will be private.
