Goerge C "Joe" Boyer, 85, a lifelong Superior resident died Wednesday, Feb 10, 2010, at his residence. He was born in Superior on Oct 28, 1924, to George and Mary Boyer. Joe graduated from East High School.

He was a Tank Commander in the US Army during WWII. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star during his service.

He had worked at Fagerlin Fuel and Marine Fueling as a terminal operator. Joe was a member of the former Zoar Lutheran Church and had been attending Safe Harbor Fellowship. He was an active Moose member having received the Pilgrim Degree. Joe was also a member of the Moose Legion, the VFW and the American Legion. Joe was a longtime foster parent in Superior. He enjoyed golfing, bowling and time spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Margee and Frances; and brothers, John and Jim.

Joe is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lois; sons, George (Teresa) Jr, of Rockton IL, Rev Fred (Sharon) of Glendale, AZ, Michael (Mavis) of Hayward, WI and Bruce (Barbara) of Williamsville, NY; daughters, Roiann (Ed) Priem, Poplar and Diana (Doug) Poynter; grandchildren, Emma, Erin, Becky, Craig, Aaron, Thalia, Amii, Amanda, Ashley, Ben, Paul, Stephanie, Steve, Chad, Michael, Nicole and Christopher; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors at a later date.
