Robert J. Osmon, 70, of Terre Haute, passed away at 11:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 in his residence with his family by his side. He was born in Terre Haute on Oct. 12, 1939 to Jack Osmon and Irene Bridgewater Osmon. Bob was a retired railroad conductor for Conrail. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Shook Osmon — whom he married July 22, 1987. He is also survived by three children; Sheila Spinoso, Christopher J. Osmon, and Kevin Struble. Other survivors include his granddaughter; Alexis Kaitlin Spinoso; one brother; Gary Osmon; two sisters; Suzanne Soules, and Peggy Osmon; as well as extended family members Jeff and Lisa Struble and their daughter Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara Osmon. He was a member of Maplewood Christian Church, Social Lodge 86 F and AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, the Zorah Shrine, and a member of the Great Banquet Community of Zionsville Presbyterian Church. Bob was an avid Indiana University sports fan making several trips to see their games; even unknowingly taking his beloved cat Pawz in the trunk of his car once. He was also a Colts fan and enjoyed attending their training camps at Rose-Hulman. His favorite pastimes were reading on his patio, enjoying his self-made Koi pond, watching the birds and squirrels and his rose bushes bloom in his yard. He enjoyed meeting his friends for breakfast regularly. He was very comfortable taking naps in his recliner with his new cat Keeper. He was a former member of the Terre Haute Housing Authority and a former Justice of the Peace in Otter Creek Township. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr., with the Rev. Craig Wininger officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, in the funeral home, with Masonic Services by Social Lodge 86 at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Vista Care Hospice (3401 S. 4th Street, Terre Haute, IN 47802) in his memory.
