She was born in Banagher Parish, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland
to John Eakin (b.1764, d.1849) and Margaret Poston/Postem (b.1765, d.1854).

She married John Eakin, her cousin, during 1799 in Banagher Parish, County Londonderry, Northern Ireland. Her father and her spouse had the same name.

They left for America in the spring of 1800. Family tradition in my family says the first son, John was born on board ship. His birth date 25 Aug 1800. They could have docked in America shortly after his birth. Their other children included Jane, William and Samuel.

In North Ireland, John was a "Miller of Grains"; in America his occupation was always listed as "Farmer".

Input from Emma Jean Smith; a descendant who has done considerable research on her Eakin family.

I think it is HIGHLY unlikely that John the 1st and Mary the 1st are in the Ebenezer Cem. Their Home where they homesteaded is basically just North of the Co. Line and the Robert Smith Property was South (he was father of Nancy Smith who md Samuel Eakin the baby in John and Mary's family.

I still think it is Highly impossible that John the 1st would have been put anywhere other than East Unity Church Cem. or possible Annasdale, where Martha Eakin and her husband Robert Smith are Buried.
