Coroner George L. Adams said Friday, Sep. 9, 1949, that no inquest will be held into the death of Loyless Ernest West, who was found earlier in a car near Pacolet, SC, with a bullet wound in the head. Mr. West's body was found on a dirt road near his home at Pacolet, SC about 11 a.m., Rural Officer J. A. Patrick reported. A .25 caliber pistol was clutched in the man's hand, Officer Patrick said. The body was found by Boyd West, brother of the dead man, who was working at a nearby schoolhouse, Officer Patrick said. Pacolet Mills Policeman, H. L. Jones assisted Officer Patrick in the investigation. Mr. West, was a native of White Stone and a son of the late William Henry and Sarah Jane Harmon West. He was shop foreman at the Pacolet Manufacturing Company, and formerly worked for the Fisk-Carter Construction Company. He was a member of the White Stone Methodist Church and a World War I Navy Veteran. Survivors included: his wife, Mrs. Katherine Littlejohn West; five sisters, Mrs. C. O. Smoak, Mrs. John Miller, Mrs. Harry Williams, Mrs. J. B. Lee and Mrs. E. E. Martin; two brothers, B. B. and Horace West; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was 50 years of age at demise and interment was in the Pacolet Methodist Cemetery. (Original Obituary was rewritten to conform to Findagrave Rules by Record Hunter.)
