FUNERAL RITES FOR GUY PAXTON TO BE HELD AT CHURCH TODAY
Funeral services for Guy Edgar Paxton, 60, will be held Sunday at 3:30 pm at the St. Paul Methodist Chruch with Dr. Earl G. Hamlett officiating. Burial will be in a local cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Warren Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be H. J. Moreland, Grover Brock, W. J. Schultz, O. P. Thrane, A. V. Smith and E. R. McDaniel. Mr. Paxton, one of the owners of the Paxton Poster Service here, and a member of a well known West Texas pioneer family, died unexpectedly Saturday at 7:15 am, at his home, 330 Cedar. He had been in ill health for about a year and underwent an operation at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis last August. He remained active in his office through Friday. He served as director for the General Outdoor Advertising, Inc. of Texas.

Mr. Paxton was born Sept. 29, 1887 in Alvarado, Tex., the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Paxton. He came to Abilene in April 1900, attending Simmons College until 1904. In 1905 he went to Snyder as secretary of the Paxton Hardware Co. He returned in 1906 to Abilene where he became a traveling representative of the Ed. S. Hughes Hardware Co. He was married Sept. 18, 1907, to the former Ione Scarborough of Abilene. The couple moved in 1909 to Snyder, where Mr. Paxton was an automobile dealer. They returned in 1921 to Abilene. Mr. Paxton entered the advertising business in 1926. He was a member of the St. Paul Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge. He also belonged to the Rotary Club until ill health caused him to retire from that club last November. Mr. Paxton was a brother of the late George L. Paxton, Sr., a former president of the Citizens National Bank, and a member of the Hardin-Simmons Board of trustees. Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Robert V. Dublin, Jr., of Laredo; one granddaughter, Gloria Woncele Dublin of Laredo. Out of town relatives in Abilene to attend the funeral include Dr. and Mrs. A. O. Scarborough of Mineral Wells, parents of Mrs. Paxton; Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Irving and daughter, Enid, of Fort Worth; and Hugh J. Scarborough of Mineral Wells.
