NEDERLAND — August "A.L." Fruge, 97, of Nederland, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010, at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland with Reverend Monsignor Dan Malain officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Broussard's in Nederland. A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a rosary to be recited at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 31, 2010, at Broussard's in Nederland.

Mr. Fruge was a native of Acadia Parish, Louisiana and lived in the Nederland area since 1935. He was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Nederland and was the owner of Fruge Construction in Nederland for thirty years. He will be remembered as a man who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden.

Mr. Fruge is survived by his daughters, Eldora Brammer and her husband Buddy and Donna Johnson and her husband Mike, all of Nederland; son, James Fruge and his wife Darla of Crosby; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great- grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret; one grandson; one great-grandson; six sisters; and four brothers. He was the last surviving family member of eleven children.
