Lelia Fox
NAPA — Lelia Delaney Fox died Sunday at the age of 94.
She was born March 21, 1901, in Vallejo to John and Amelia Lipp Delaney. descendants of early Solano County settlers. She was raised in Vallejo. Napa and St. Helena, and graduated from St. Helena High School in 1918.
Mrs. Fox spent much of her adult life in Oakland where she was employed at Hale's Department Store from 1943 until her retirement in 1961.
She returned to Napa after her retirement where she joined the Senior Friendship Club and continued her lifelong interests in singing, playing piano and handicrafts.
She was predeceased by her husband, Mervin Fox, and two brothers.
Mrs. Fox is survived by a sister, Laura Meyer; two nieces, Marie Collins and Louise Castro; and her close friends and neighbors, Bowdoin Pfeifer and Juliana Inman and their children.
Friends are invited to attend the funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St., with the services under the auspices of St. John's Lutheran Church of Napa. Burial will be private in the family plot at St. Helena Cemetery.
Contributions to the Senior Friendship Club have been suggested.
