From "History of Some Persons Buried In Pilcher Cemetery By Paul E Stroble, Jr." in Fayette Facts, David was a Cape Cod whale fisherman before he moved to NY and married Esther Griffith. They came to Fayette County in 1836 with their 17 children. One of them, George, had his arm shot off in the Civil War. George's wife and several of his descendants are buried here, but he and his two other wives are buried in Bolt Cemetery.
