THOMPSON, THOMAS HAYDEN, 74, of Louisville, died Monday, October 6, 2008, at Veterans Administration Medical Center under the care of Hospice of Louisville. He was born in South Portsmouth, KY on December 8, 1933, and spent his childhood and early youth in Paris, KY before moving to Louisville in 1950. Tom served his country as a United States Marine during the Korean War. He founded Thompson Exterminating in 1967, operating the business for 41 years. He truly enjoyed golf, horse racing and travels with family and friends. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, son and uncle. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Cora Boots Thompson; and siblings, Minerva Taylor, Betty Boyd and Colonel Preston Thompson, USAF. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Cecelia Buckler Thompson; and their children, Lisa Thompson (Thomas Johnson), Caroyla Tobbe (Patrick), David Thompson, Janet Breen (Christopher), and Douglas Thompson (Amanda); beloved grandchildren, Sara Johnson Clark and Jeremy Johnson, Geri, Patricia, Sean and Benjamin Tobbe, Tommy Thompson, Caitlan and Connor Breen, and Rosalind and Vivian Thompson; and great-grandchildren, Haili Johnson and Thomas Kai Clark. Tom was a devoted member of the Saint Pius X Church community, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, where his funeral Mass will be read, 10 a.m. Thursday. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made to benefit The Humane Society or Repair Affair at New Directions Housing Corporation.
