He was born as Pieter Dijk at the country village Thesinge, municipality Ten Boer, in the mid-north of the Dutch northeastern province Groningen. His parents are Jan Dijk and Fijlina van Dijken.

On 21 March 1904 farmer Pieter Dijk (22 years old) arrived with his parents, farmer Jan Dijk (48) and Fijlina (47) and his six brothers Jan (17, farmer), Arend (14, farmer), Willem (12), Lambertus (9), Hendrik (7) and Harm Pieter (6) on the S.S. Potsdam at Ellis Island, New York. Their last residence place in the Netherlands was Thesinge and their destination was his mother Fijlina's brother P. van Dijken in Gallatin Valley, located in the southwestern part of Montana. In March 1909 his mother died there at Manhattan.

In May 1910 Peter Dyk (29 years old, farm laborer on home farm), his father John Dyk (55 years old, widower, farmer), brothers Arie (20, farm laborer on home farm), William (18, farm laborer on home farm), Lambert (15, farm laborer on home farm), Henry (14), Harm P (12), and hired girls Anna V D Woude (24, Netherlands, immigrated in 1909) and Grace V D Woude (15, Netherlands, immigrated in 1909) were living in Heeb School District, Gallatin County, located in the southwestern part of Montana. All Dyks were born in the Netherlands and immigrated in 1904.

On February 15, 1911 Peter John Dyke married in Manhattan, Gallatin County, Montana at the age of 29 years the four years younger Adje [Anna] Van de Woude, who was also born in the country village Thesinge, province Groningen, Netherlands.

In 1920 Peter (38) and his wife Anna Dijk (34) lived with their children Precilla (7), John P. (6), Lena P (4) and Johannes (1) in Gallatin County, Montana. In 1930 Peter (48) and his wife Ida Dyk (44) resided there at Manhattan with their children Pearl (18), John (16), Lena (14), Joseph (11), Henry (10) and Cena (8).

On 30 May 1931 his wife Anna or Ida died in Gallatin County.

In 1940 farmer Peter Dyk (59) lived with his children Joe (21, farm laborer), Henry (20, farm laborer too) and Cena (18) at an own farm, worth $3000, at the Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam, in Gallatin County. In 1935 they lived in the same house.
