John Krambeer, 64, Of Luana, Passes On After Brief Illness

Funeral services for John J. Krambeer, 69, were held Sept. 11, at 1:30 o'clock from the home to St. John's Lutheran church in Luana at 2 o'clock with Rev. Paul W. Adix officiating. Burial was in Gooding cemetery.

He passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 8, at 4:15 o'clock at Postville hospital, having been stricken while in Waukon the preceding Saturday night.

He was born a son of Mr. and Mrs. John Krambeer, Sr., Dec. 15, 1877, at St. Olaf. All of his life was spent in Clayton county with the exception of several years of his childhood, when he and his parents went to South Dakota to live.

He was married August 25, 1903 to Miss Clara Henkes. They made their home on various farms in this community, retiring to Luana, January 17, 1938.

He was a member of the Brotherhood of St. John's Lutheran church in Luana.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Edna) Ihde of Monona, Mrs. Louis (Lucille) McNally, and Mrs. Robert (Irma) Meyer of Postville, and Mrs. Fred (Lorene) Nevermann of Renwick; five sons, Harold and Lester of Farmersburg, Myron of Ossian, and Gerald and Burnell of Monona; 25 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth, who died Feb. 17, 1943, and Verdell, who died in infancy, July 4, 1930, and by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Pallbearers were four grandsons and two nephews. They were: L'Dean, Raymond and Lavern Krambeer, Calvin Ihde, Carlton Collins, and Verdean Henkes. Flower girls were six granddaughters: Verda Mae, Marilyn, Betty, Beverly, and Cleone Krambeer, and Mrs. Calvin Ihde.
