Mr. Siegel, who died Dec. 13, was born in Pine City. He was a longtime resident of Wilbur, Wash., and had been living in Olympia for the past five years.

He graduated from Pine City High School and attended Gonzaga University on a football scholarship.

Mr. Siegel's started his career in teaching in Coulee City, Wash. In 1941 he began teaching high school in Wilbur, Wash.

He joined the Navy in 1944 and served as commander of an armed guard unit aboard the USS Saginaw. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to his teaching position in Wilbur. He remained there until he retired in the mid-1970's.

Mr. Siegel had lived in Eugene, Ore., for eight years before moving to Olympia.

He was a member of the Avion Club.

His wife, Laurel, died in 1983.
