Funeral services were held Thursday, February 11, 2010, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes, Ida Grove. The Reverend Terry Roder officiated, with burial in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Danbury.
Born February 10, 1920, in Mapleton, Iowa, Patriot Ione "Pat" Anderson was the daughter of Elmer E. and Sarah Caroline (Long) Stephenson. She grew up and received her education in Mapleton, graduating from Mapleton High School.
On February 15, 1938, Pat was united in marriage to Clarence E. Anderson at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mapleton. The couple farmed north of Danbury for many years. They retired to Sloan until Clarence's death in 1990. Pat then made her home in Ida Grove.
Pat was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. She had many hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, gardening, baking, and reading.
Survivors include three children, Colleen Holtzen of Sioux City, Anita (James) Bekish of Sergeant Bluff, and LaDonna (Mike) Erikson of Omaha, NE; two grandchildren, Karla (Chuck) Butler of Rochester, MI, and Dan Erikson of Omaha, NE; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Rachel Butler.
In addition to her husband, Pat was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Joan in infancy; a son, Gary Anderson; a grandson, Adam Anderson; one brother; five sisters; a son-in-law, Dick Holtzen; and a daughter-in-law, Lynn Anderson.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
