CALVARY FARMER, PAUL BLAND, DIES OF HEART ATTACK
Paul Bland, 53-year old farmer of the Calvary Section, died at 11:30 p.m. Saturday in an ambulance enroute to Mary Immaculate Hospital soon after suffering a heart attack at his home on the Old Calvary Road. He recently had been under treatment for a heart ailment. He was a Marion County native, a son of the late Henry and Loretta Spalding Bland. His wife is the former Miss Clara Mattingly. Other survivors include six sons, Ben Spalding Bland, Lebanon; Paul Wilbur Bland, Lexington; Irvine, Ernest, Murrell and Carroll Bland, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Norris Brady and Mrs. Eugene Young, both of Marion County; four brothers, Bernard Bland, Route 2, Lebanon; Lester, Henry and Edgar Bland, Route 1, Lebanon, and a sister, Mrs. Jay Thomas, also of Route 1, Lebanon. The body was at Bosley Funeral Home until 9 a.m. Tuesday, when funeral services were conducted at Holy Name of Mary Church, Calvary, by the Rev. C. L. Smith. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were six nephews, James Thomas, Lawrence Thomas, J. L. Bland, Thomas Bland, Francis Bland and Bernard Bland Jr. Buried in Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, Calvary, Ky.
