ESCONDIDO — Marie Allen, 84, died Thursday in Escondido after a long illness.
Mrs. Allen was born March 28, 1905 in Garnett, Kansas to James D. and Hannah (Stafford) Macklin. She came to California in 1909. After living in Southern California for several years, she moved to Mountain View in 1924.
She worked at Napa State Hospital as a psychiatric technician for 22 years, retiring on disability in 1963. She moved to Ramona and then to Escondido in 1978.
She was a member of the Napa Seventh-day Adventist Church and the California State Employees Association.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paris Ray Allen.
She is survived by a son, Lt. Com, James E. Allen, USN Ret. of Sadona, Ariz.; a stepdaughter, Lorraine Mello of San Jose; four grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Avis; one son, Everett; one stepson, Les; and a sister, Mae M. Lay.
Friends are invited to attend services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel of Richard Pierce Funeral Service, 1660 Silverado Trail, Napa, with Pastor Ronald W. Brett officiating. Interment will be at St. Helena Cemetery.
