Irene M. Williams, 91, of Fairborn, formerly of Chillicothe, Ohio, passed away Friday, February 5, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born December 5, 1918 in Marksville to Albert Mayeux and Corinne Chatelain. She attended Marksville High. She was raised on the family farm where the current Collins Mayeux Road is located off Hwy 452. She met her husband, Starlin Ingram Williams, during the war years because he was in the Army Air Corp with her brother Collins Mayeux. Irene & Starlin were married in 1944 in Marksville.
She lived most of her life in Evansville, Indiana where she raised her family. During the last number of years she lived in a nursing home in Chillicothe and then in Fairborn near her daughter, Starlene Brooks.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albert and Corinne Mayeux; husband Starlin Williams; son-in-law Gary Lawrence; two sisters, Catherine Mayeux Bordelon & Norral Mayeux Reynolds; and 2 brothers, Tommy Mayeux and Collins Mayeux and 2 infant brothers, Joseph Alton Mayeux and Pierre Rollen Mayeux. Her parents, grandparents, & great grandparents are buried at St. Joseph Cemetery # 1 in Marksville, Louisiana
Irene is survived by her children Suzann Lawrence, Linda (Art) Davidson; and Starlene (Tom) Brooks; grandchildren Eric Lawrence, Sara (Leif) Paulson, Matt (Mandy) Davidson, Ben (Becky) Davidson, Lindsey Davidson, Evan Brooks, Scott Brooks, and David Brooks; great grandchildren Hannah Davidson and Liam Paulson; numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
Family received friends on Monday, February 8, 2010 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton Xenia Rd. Dayton, Ohio
A graveside service were held at Oak Hills Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana were she was buried next to her husband.
