Velma Grace Ferguson Rude, 85, of Memphis, MO, passed away January 20, 2005, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.

Velma Rude, the daughter of Arthur and Bessie Rugh Ferguson, was born on March 13, 1919, in Scotland County, MO.

She was united in marriage to Israel Rude and to this union two sons and three daughters were born.

Velma loved her family and was a devoted Christian. She enjoyed sending cards to everyone and especially playing the piano and visiting with everyone. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, an infant sister, and her brothers, Robert and Dean Ferguson.

Surviving relatives include two sons, George Rude and his wife, Crystal of Canton, IL and Terry Rude and his wife, Cindy of Cambridge, IA; three daughters, Sandra Robinson and her husband, Raymond of Nevada, IA, Linda LaFrenz and her husband, Tom of Wyaconda, MO and Brenda Haley and her husband, Sam of Calamus, IA; 10 grandchildren, Colby and Eric Rude, Sember DeRenzy, Mike and Bill Robinson, Keri Kearns and Kellie Alderton, Brandy Lingelbach, Adam Rude and Marcus Haley, as well as 10 great-grandchildren.

Memorials have been suggested to the Prairie View Cemetery or the Scotland County Care Center and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 East Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, January 24, 2005, with the Rev. Charles Hammack officiating the service. Music was by Connie Courtney, pianist; soloist was Carol Burrus; duet by Colby Rude and Sember DeRenzy. Pallbearers were Eric Rude, Adam Rude, Clifton Stott, Mike Robinson, Ronnie Ferguson, and Bill Robinson. Interment was in the Prairie View Cemetery, northeast of Memphis, MO.
