MRS. DICK ABELL SUCCUMBS AT 72
Mrs. Dick Abell, 72, a well known Lebanon resident, died at 7 p.m. Thursday, August 1, 1968, at Mary Immaculate Hospital, where she had been under treatment for about a week. She had been in ill health for about a month. A native of Marion County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Elizabeth Mattingly Mattingly, and was the widow of the late Richard (Dick) Abell. She was a member of the Christian Mothers and Altar Society at St. Augustine Church. Mrs. Abell is survived by two sons, William A. and Chester Abell, Lebanon, 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Tommy Lee Gootee, Sr., Lebanon, and Mrs. Minnie Mattingly, St. Francis, and a half sister, Mrs. Janie Hardison of Louisville. The Rev. Thomas Hommrich conducted the funeral at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Augustine Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. Myers Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Serving as pallbearers were Garland Dever, Charles T. Mattingly, Jr., Philip George, Maurice Spalding, John I. Blakemore and James Bradshaw.
