Newt R. Vanatta, 67, formerly of DeKalb County, residence of Hillsboro, died Wednesday afternoon, April 12 at Queen City Hospital in Tullahoma.
He was married to Annie Offalon Barnes Vanatta, who survives. He was the son of the late I.W. and Edna Taylor Vanatta.
Last rites were Friday at 2 p.m: at Manchester Funeral Home. Rev. L.M. Drinkall and Rev. W.B.Snipes officiated. Burial took place in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens, Tullahoma. Survivors in addition to the widow are three sons, Newt Arlis, Edgar Paul, and Frank Marshall Vanatta, all of
Hillsboro; one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Lorine Henley of Decherd; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers John and Jake Vanatta of Smithville, Shearlie Vanatta of Woodbury and
four sisters,Mrs. Bedie Watson of Smithville, Mrs. Allie Mae Christman and Mrs. Belle Underhill Allen of McMinnville, and Mrs. Sallie Hibdon of Southgate, Michigan.
