THREE IN ONE FAMILY SUCCUMB: ANOTHER IS DANGEROUSLY SICK.
Three deaths occurred in one family in the western part of the county within a few hours the past week. This perhaps is a record unequalled in this community during the present influenza epidemic. Jesse Blanton, a fireman on the main line of the L & N Railroad, died at the home of his father, John Blanton, near Dant, Saturday afternoon shortly after 2 o'clock of pneumonia, which followed an attack of the influenza. A few hours later his wife succumbed to the same malady. A double funeral for the husband and wife was held at Chicago Sunday afternoon, burial being in St. Francis cemetery. Sunday evening Mrs. John Blanton, mother of Jesse Blanton, died of pneumonia. She was buried at Chicago Monday. The Blanton family is widely known in the western part of the county and in their deep affliction have the sympathy of a large number of friends. Jesse Blanton, who was about 25 years old, had been living in Louisville. He suffered an attack of the influenza and seemingly was on the road to recovery. With his wife and two children he came to the home of his parents on a visit and soon afterward suffered a relapse. He is survived by two children, one of whom is dangerously ill.
