Funeral services for Buford H. Charles, 74, long-time area resident, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 29, at the First Baptist church. Rev. Les McNair, pastor, officiated with interment in the Carnegie cemetery.
Charles died Wednesday, November 27, in the local hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born October 15, 1900 in Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Vera, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Costner of Lodi, Calif. and Mrs. Jean Diendorf of Bellflower, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Underwood of Nashville, Tenn.; a son, Buddy Charles of Carnegie; a sister, Mrs. Mable Patterson of Roseburg, Ore.; two brothers, George Charles of Carnegie and Roy Charles of Salinas, Calif.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
