22 Apr 1910, 1645 District, Tattnall Co., GA; listed as James C., age 58, married 37 years to Mary, age 70, with James P., son, age 31, Mary, daughter-in-law, age 29. (Mary E. JONES)
07-08 Jan 1920 Census, his residence was Elza, Tattnall Co., GA in the 1645th District and he was listed as James C. South, age 68, wife Eliza, age 71.
From my research, all I can tell is that Mary WHITE, his first wife died after 1910. Her burial is unknown. He married his second wife, Eliza JARRIELL (JARRELL, also seen this spelling), who is buried beside him, between 1911-1929.
By 10 Apr 1930, 1645 District, Elza, Tattnall Co., GA, he was listed as Jim South, age 74, widowed, and his daughter Frances, age 54, and her husband, Sam Brown, age 55, were living with him. Sam Brown and both of his parents were from South Carolina.
1940 Federal Census for Tattnall Co., GA 22 Apr 1940. James South is listed as head of household, age 87, widowed, b SC. Living with him is his widowed daughter, Frances South Brown, age 62, b. GA. There is a lodger living with him named John Bowen, 52. Frances' husband Sam, died between the 1930 and 1940 census.
