Karl A. Christen, 76, of Mont Belvieu was born October 15, 1933 in New Orleans, LA and passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 in a local hospital. He retired from Duke Energy, formerly Texas Eastern and was a member of the Baptist faith. He loved to collect guns and hunt. He was a very active member of Cedar Bayou Masonic Lodge #321, Old River Masonic Lodge #1442 and the Baytown Shrine Club, where he was a member of the cooking team. He was also awarded the KCCH.

He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Allen Christen and is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Christen of Mont Belvieu; daughter, Cindy Christen-Douglas of Lumberton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services with Masonic rites will be Saturday, February 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Masons will serve as pallbearers.

In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions may be made to the Arabia Shrine Hospital Benefit, c/o Arabia Shrine Center, P. O. Box 20625, Houston, TX 77225-0625.
