LANGHORNE-

Byron M. Conrad Jr., 84, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at St. Mary Medical Center, Oncology Center, Langhorne, after a short bout with cancer. He lived in Sarasota, Fla. for many years and was a former resident of Penndel.

He was the son of the late Byron Sr. and Harriet Conrad.
Byron was a graduate of Sunbury High School and a veteran of World War II, serving as a paratrooper for four years. He was awarded the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his service.

He was employed by the Philadelphia Electric Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1987.

Byron was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Sunbury.
In his youth, Byron was an avid bowler and car enthusiast. He was a strong force in the lives of all who knew him and he was a great "Mr. Fix It" guy.

Byron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris L. Reid Conrad; and his three children, Brian Scott Conrad of Sarasota, Fla., Robin Valentis and her husband Stephen of Penndel, and Byron M. Conrad III of Penndel; six grandchildren, of whom he was very proud, Brian Jr., Brittany, Brooke, Brock, Colin and Hope; four great-grandchildren, Scott, Andress, Sebastian and Kaeley; and his sister-in-law, Cherie Conrad.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cheryl Lynn; and a brother, Louis Conrad.

Friends and family are invited to Byron's' memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Sunbury.

Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park.
