Last Rites Held for Richard A. Sampey - Settled near Malden in 1902 - Two Daughters Survive

Richard A Sampey, 80, who since 1902 has farmed eight miles west of Rosalia, was called by death at his home Tuesday, due to pneumonia and a weak heart. He was ill but a few days.
Mr. Sampey was born in Lee County*, Iowa, April 8, 1859* and died May 22, 1939.* In 1889 he married Nancy Alice Laughbery (sic) who died in 1904. To this union three daughters were born, namely, Mary, Nellie and Bertha who died in infancy. Both daughters were living at the time of his death. He married Anna M. Reed in December 1908, and to this union no children were born. The late Mrs. Sampey died in 1930.
He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Elmeda Siegel and Nellie Blanch Sampey: four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the Malden Congregational Church at Malden Thursday at 2:00 P.M. with the Rev. D.E. Carter officiating. Burial was in Malden cemetery.
