DODGE CITY --- Richard H. Mueting, 60, Dodge City, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2001, at his home.

Mr. Mueting owned and operated Mueting Nursery in Dodge City the past 33 years. He also had served in the Army Reserve as a cook.

He was born July 21, 1941, in Seneca, the son of Leo and Marie Buessing Mueting. He moved to Dodge City from Seneca in 1961 and he graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City.

Mr. Mueting was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2955, both in Dodge City. He was president of the Kansas Nursery and Landscape Association at the time of his death.

He married Mueting on May 23, 1964, in Dodge City. She survives.

Other survivors include three sons, Doug Mueting, Marysville, Ohio, and Brian Mueting and Nick Mueting, both of Dodge City; a daughter, Melissa Hall, Ankeny, Iowa; his mother, Marie Mueting, Seneca; a brother, Tom Mueting, Seneca; eight sisters, Mary Lee Beckman, Salina, Sister Denise Mueting, Denver, Elaine Brown, Manhattan, Janet Fangman and Pat Cass, both of Seneca, Gladys Rottinghaus, St. Benedict, Sister Helen Mueting, Harlan, Iowa, and Rita Potter, Topeka; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dodge City. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. A vigil service followed by a rosary recited by the Knights of Columbus will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Burkhart Funeral Chapel in Dodge City.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart School Endowment Fund or to the Cathedral Building Campaign and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
