Betty J. Bowman, 83, of Greenfield, died Monday, Jan 14, 2008, at Tomball Regional Hospital in Tomball, Texas.

She was born July 27, 1924, in Gillespie, the daughter of Leslie "C.B." and Helen McGregor Jouett. She married Darrell Bowman on Oct. 13, 1942, and he survives.

She is also survived by one daughter, Cheri Lynn (husband, Roger) Arras of Spring, Texas; one son Richard Daryl (wife, Shirley) of Fairless Hills, Penn.; five grandchildren, Laura George, Jana Kincer, Scott Arras, Darlene Bello and Carolyn Parry; 11 great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Allen of Greenfield; and two brothers, Gerold Jouett of Fayette and Darold Jouett of East Alton. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Leslie, Richard and Harold Rae Jouett.

Mrs. Bowman was a 1942 graduate of Greenfield High School where she later worked as a secretary. She was a Past Matron of the Greenfield Chapter 424 Order of Eastern Star serving in 1968, and she also served on the Illinois Baptist State Asssociation from 1981 to 1987. She enjoyed crafts and oil painting.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield, with burial at Oak Wood Cemetery in Greenfield. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Greene County Health Department. Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Betty J. Bowman were held 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield with the Rev. Jim Allen officiating. Debra Powell was pianist and musical selections included "How Great Thou Art" and "Amazing Grace." Pallbearers were Gary, Warren and Billy Bob Range, Dennis, Ricky and Roger Jouett, John Canavan and Harold Hillis. Burial was at Oak Wood Cemetery in Greenfield. Shields-Bishop Funeral Home in Greenfield was in charge of arrangements.
